Bucks Driver Found Dead In Flood Waters

A driver was found dead inside his car after he drove through flood waters in Bucks County Wednesday night, authorities said.

Donald Allen Bauer, 65, of Perkiomenville, was in his 2013 Mazda CX-9 when he drove into the flood waters of Unami Creek on 1925 Trumbauersville Road in Milford Township, PA State Police said.

When troopers and fire crews arrived at the scene around 11:15 p.m., they were unable to retrieve the car. The conditions were too severe, authorities said. They postponed the search efforts at 11:30 p.m.

The 54-year-old female passenger of the vehicle was able to escape and was transported to Saint Luke’s Upper Bucks campus.

Rescue teams arrived back on the scene around 6 a.m. Thursday to find Bauer dead inside his car, state police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at 10:10 a.m., state police said. His cause of death was drowning and the manner of death was accidental.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Dunne’s Towing.

Authorities assisting at the scene were, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Pennsylvania Boat Commission - Waterways Conservation Officer, Point Pleasant Fire Company - Dive 41 Rescue, Ottsville Fire Company - Special Service 94, Ottsville Fire Police QRS Unit, and Trumbauersville Fire Company.
